Fog Lit Book Festival – Project Coordinator

Fog Lit Festival Inc. is searching for an individual for a 6-month fulltime coordinator. The ideal candidate will be a responsible individual with the ability to work independently and demonstrate creativity.

Duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist with content management for the Fog Lit website (WordPress)
  • Assist with market profiling and research co-ordinating with like-minded cultural organizations
  • Assist in the development of our marketing strategy
  • Develop and execute social media strategies, creating content
  • Help organize and present stand-alone author readings, workshops and other events
  • Investigate potential authors and publishers for the 2020 edition of Fog Lit Book Festival
  • Participate in promotional activities such as booths at markets and Area 506*
  • Assist with grant preparation and report writing
  • Work with the Fog Lit Board Executive to develop a fundraising plan*
  • Maintain partner relationships including: sending out correspondence to contact lists, managing email correspondence and phone inquiries, working with volunteers, developing and communicating with community partners
  • Administrative duties such as filing, reorganizing, and maintaining databases (Google Drive)
  • Assist with Board activities such as scheduling and planning*
  • Assist with the recruitment of volunteers
  • Supervision of summer student(s)
  • Other duties as required

*This position may require occasional evenings or weekends for promotional activities, special event coordination, committee meetings and Board meetings. Advance notice will be given.

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • A background in the fields of Literary Arts, Business Admin/Marketing, Communications & Information Studies or related disciplines or experiences
  • Strong knowledge of social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), working knowledge of web design and management (or willingness to learn), familiarity with graphic design programs, such as, Adobe Suite
  • Previous experience working or volunteering with festivals
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in English (oral and written)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong time management skills
  • Familiarity with graphic design software (ie Adobe InDesign) considered an asset
