Carole MacFarquhar is a professional librarian with expertise in teen and adult services, and collection development. She is currently the Young Adult and Adult Services Librarian for the Saint John Free Public Library. Over the past 35 years, she has worked in a number of school and public libraries in Ontario and New Brunswick. Her work has included planning numerous author, speaker and special events, including five years on the planning committee for the Saint John Canterbury Tales Literary Festival. She has also chaired or participated in the organizing committees for numerous library conferences. She has also been a member of local parent-school councils for 13 years, co-ordinating health fairs and other events. She has a keen interest in promoting literacy and culture in the community.
Carole has a BA and MLS from the University of Toronto. She is an active member of The Association of Professional Librarians of New Brunswick and is a founding member of the Friends of Symphony New Brunswick.
Carole lives in Quispamsis with her husband and son. When not working, she likes to sew, read, sing, and walk in the woods. She also enjoys live theatre and musical events of all types.
